Travel Days:
ARRIVE - Friday, September 22nd in Deadwood SD
RETURN - Wednesday, September 27th
Riding Days:
Saturday 23rd
Sunday 24th
Monday 25th
Tuesday 26th
Camping Location:
Saturday - Custer Crazy Horse Campground site 308 (has water and electricity). $30 per night and have room for 3 tents. Firewood is available for $7 bundle. They also said they could scrounge up some chairs so we can sit by the fire.
Sunday - Edgemont Campground $20 per nite, has shower and for $5 more, electricity. No camp fire, so I'm open to finding something else on the way.
Another option is to ride into Hot Springs SD which is another 15 miles, but it seems like a pretty cool town with several camping options:
#2 choice - Hot Springs - Hidden Lake Campground $30, has shower and fire pit, no electricity except for in the shower house.
Actually stayed here: This was a super nice campground! There were only 2 tent sites, very flat, nice picnic tables, fire pit. Really nice small lake that you could swim in. (post picture)
Hot Springs - Sunrise Ridge Campground $24.30 with electricity, no personal campfire, only a communal one with free firewood.
Hot Springs - Allen Ranch Campground $30 + $5 extra per person, need to call 605.745.1890 for reservations. Have to buy firewood from the town. Looks like the best campsite since it's next to a little creek with warm water flowing from the hot springs.
Actual visit to the site: The campsite wasn't very well maintained and the picnic tables were a hazard and in very poor shape.
Monday - Custer Crazy Horse Campground site 308 (has water and electricity).
Stayed here: This was an incredibly nice campsite! Showers were really nice, electricity and water at the site, nice fire pit and picnic table. Site 402 is where we stayed which has some cool rocks right behind it. Look for site 404 next time because it right up against the rocks. (post picture)

Miscellaneous Trail Information:
It costs $15 annual fee or $4 per day to ride the trail. It can be purchased here - annual pass. The trail pass can also be purchased at several places in Deadwood:
Chamber of Commerce
Deadwood Visitor Center
Black Hills Inn & Suites
An event going on called "Mickleson Trail Trek" from the 15th - 17th which starts in Edgemont and goes to Deadwood. We will see a lot of cyclists on Sunday, but hopefully it won't be too bad. Event details. This won't be a problem now since we moved the trip back a week.
On Saturday the 23rd there is also a cycling even called Rails to Ales. This is a ride from Hill City to Custer. Looks like we will run into some cyclists since we will be camping on the north side of Custer.
